First-quarter tops

Natalia Gawelda (from left), Yusra Sarhan, Cody McElheny, Kali Graziano, Kara Melvin and Nathan Reeves are among 10 Oak Lawn High School students named students of the first quarter.

The students were selected from each department from teacher nominations. Criteria for recognition includes having at least a B average and no unexcused tardies/absences. The students must have also demonstrated responsibility, consistent growth, good citizenship, and above average effort/performance.

The honorees were Natasha Pratscher, art; Graziano, business education; Reeves, science; Gawelda, social science; Wilving DelValle, mathematics; McElheny, industrial technology; Melvin, foreign language; Sarhan, English; Brendan DuVall, family and consumer science; and Mandy Masters, physical education.
