Alsip man tried to kill woman: police

A 53-year-old man has been charged with home invasion and attempted first degree murder after he allegedly kicked down the door of an apartment in Chicago Ridge and attempted to choke the mother of his children.

Frank Staniszewski, of Alsip, was arrested at 2:05 a.m. Nov. 13 after the incident in the 5700 block of 108th Street. He is also charged with battery and violating of an order of protection, and is being held without bond, police said.

The woman called police to report a violation of the order of protection. A dispatcher reportedly told police screaming could be heard just before the call was disconnected. The woman reportedly began losing consciousness as Staniszewksi choked her. She was treated at the scene, police said.

The couple reportedly has a 2-year-old son and a 1-year-old daughter, police said.
