Two men were reportedly charged with possession of a controlled substance and other drug-related offenses after police stopped the vehicle in which they were riding at the intersection of 88th Street and Rockwell Avenue.

Damien D. Williams, 19, and Shawn A. Averhart, 22, both of Chicago, were arrested at 10:02 p.m. Sept. 22 as part of a drug investigation, police said.

Williams was reportedly charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis, resisting a peace officer and criminal damage to property. He had 14.9 grams of crack cocaine, 4.9 grams of heroin, and 1.9 grams of cannabis in his possession, police said. He reportedly attempted to flee from officers on foot and damaged a wooden fence in the 8800 block of Talman Avenue.

Averhart was reportedly charged with possession of a controlled substance. He had 2.2 grams of heroin, 14.9 grams of crack cocaine, and 1.9 grams of cannabis in his possession, police said.

A 33-year-old man was charged with theft after he allegedly took more than $1,000 worth of cologne while working at a department store in the 9700 block of Western Avenue.

Demario L. Strong, of Chicago, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Sept. 24. A security guard reportedly saw Strong walk into a stockroom with empty his pockets and walk out with cologne bottles sticking out of his pockets, police said. The 14 bottles of cologne reportedly had a retail value of $1,103.

A 56-year-old man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly took 36 air fresheners from a store in the 2500 block of 95th Street.

Bobby E. Jett, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:40 p.m. Sept. 21. He reportedly stuffed the air fresheners down his pants. The items had a retail value of $99, police said.

A 45- year-old man was charged with battery after he allegedly shoved a woman who asked him to leave a Shell gas station, 2635 W. 87th St.

Jerome President, of Chicago, was arrested at 11:47 a.m. Sept. 21. The woman is an employee of the gas station, police said.

A 37-year-old man was reportedly charged with possession of cannabis after police stopped a vehicle in which he was riding at the intersection of 95th Street and Pulaski Road.

Mario Cruz, of Midlothian, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Sept. 21. Police reportedly found 8 grams of cannabis in his right sock.

Two men were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police stopped the vehicle they were driving at the intersection of 103rd Street and Central Park Avenue.

Gregory L. Liddell, 34, of Crestwood, and Thomas Kouba, 32, of Palos Heights, were arrested at 5:14 p.m. Sept. 22. Liddell, the driver, reportedly had two syringes and one cooking spoon in his possession. He was also charged with failure to wear a seat belt and no insurance.

Kouba reportedly had one syringe and one heroin cooking cap in his possession.

A 26-year-old woman was reportedly charged with possession of cannabis, speeding, and fleeing and eluding police after she drove away from police and hit a fence in the 2800 block of 98th Street.

Jasmine B. Hopps, of Chicago, was arrested at 10:02 a.m. Sept. 27. She was reportedly speeding in the 9500 block of California Avenue, driving 45 mph in a 30-mph zone. When police tried to the vehicle she allegedly drove away. She reportedly had 26.9 grams of cannabis in her possession. She was also charged with no insurance and driver’s license not on person.

A 19-year-old man was charged with retail theft after he allegedly took a package of condoms from a store in the 2500 block of 95th Street.

Michael A. Charleston, of Chicago, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Sept. 27. The condoms had a retail value of $7.47.

A 19-year-old woman was charged with retail theft after she allegedly took clothing from a store in the 2500 block of 95th Street.

Jeena Conley-Holman, of Chicago, was arrested at 2:48 p.m. Sept. 26. The three items had reported a retail value of $57.17.
