Rebecca S. Huerta

Rebecca S. Huerta (née Navarro), 86, of Oak Lawn, died Jan. 1, at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Visitation was held at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home in Oak Lawn on Jan. 4. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Germaine Church in Oak Lawn on Jan. 5. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth.

Mrs. Huerta is survived by her husband, Frank; her sons, Ronald and Lawrence; her sister, Mary Macias; many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Huerta was born in Austin, Texas. She was a homemaker.

Josephine L. Kusmirek

Josephine L. Kusmirek (née Hyzy), 89, of Orland Park, formerly of Chicago Ridge, died Jan. 6, at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. Visitation was held at Lawn Funeral Home in Orland Park on Jan. 8. A funeral Mass was offered at Our Lady of the Ridge Church in Chicago Ridge on Jan. 9. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth.

Mrs. Kusmirek is survived by her daughters, Frances Kusmirek and Elaine Zych; her sons, Richard and David; and foster son, John Laskie; many nieces and nephews; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kusmirek was born in Chicago. She was a homemaker.

Bert Roede

Bert Roede, 91, of Oak Lawn, died Jan. 4. Visitation was held at Zimmerman & Sandeman Funeral Home in Oak Lawn on Jan. 6. A funeral service was held at First Christian Reformed Church in Oak Lawn on Jan. 7. Burial was at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery in Oak Lawn.

Mr. Roede is survived by his wife, Gertrude; his son, Ernie; his daughters, Gay Clark and Iris Dykstra; his sisters, Mary Ouwinga and Bertha Damstra; his brother, John Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Roede was the former proprietor of the Oak Lawn Philips 66 Service Center. He was a 25year member of the Men-of-Achord Male Chorus. Memorials may be sent to Back to God Hour, 6555 W. College Drive, Palos Heights, IL 60463.

Eleanor M. Stumpfl

Eleanor M. Stumpfl (née Sarka), 77, of Oak Lawn, died Dec. 3, at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Funeral arrangements by Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. At Mrs. Stumpfl’s request, a celebration of her life will be held in late spring. Burial was private at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park.

Mrs. Stumpfl is survived by her daughter, Linda Dix; special friends, Ann Metke and Anita Owens; companions, Hans, Buddy and Sammy; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stumpfl was born in Chicago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Oak Lawn. Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.

Kristine R. Tanalski

Kristine R. Tanalski, 54, formerly of Evergreen Park, died Jan. 2, at home. Visitation was held at Kenny Brothers Funeral Home in Evergreen Park on Jan.

A funeral Mass was offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Evergreen Park on Jan. 7. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.

Mrs. Tanalski is survived by her husband, Ted.

Mrs. Tanalski was a teacher’s aide at Most Holy Redeemer School.
