Janet M. Gardner

Janet M. Gardner (née McKendry), 67, of Oak Lawn, died Jan. 16, at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. Visitation was held at Andrew J. McGann & Son Funeral Home in Chicago on Jan. 19. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Linus Church in Oak Lawn on Jan. 20. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth.

Mrs. Gardner is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughters, Cherie Pereiro, Sandy Horn and Lynn Dahill; her sons, Ron, Dan and Bob; her sister, Joan Peck; her brother, Donald McKendry; and 22 grandchildren.

Mrs. Gardner was born in Chicago. She was a secretary.

Joan B. Anast

Joan B. “Jean” Anast (née Radziewicz), 92, of Oak Lawn, died Jan. 21, at home. Visitation was held at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn on Jan. 24. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Germaine Church in Oak Lawn on Jan. 25. Burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Anast is survived by her nephews, David and Brian Radziewicz; great nieces, Dawn Palmer, Erica Radziewicz, Kelley Currier and Sarah Radziewicz; and great nephew, Justin. Mrs. Anast was born in Chicago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Woodrow Wilson Post Chapter 20, Sea League of America, St. Germaine Harmony Club, Southeastern Chicago Cancer Dressing Group of American Cancer Society. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Emily A. Benda

Emily A. Benda, 91, of DeKalb, formerly of Worth, died Jan. 21, at DeKalb County Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Cremation has taken place at Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Benda is survived by her son, George Benda; her daughter, Joan Pepin; three nieces and one nephew; and nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Benda was born in Chicago.

Monica M. Brenner

Monica M. Brenner, 29, of Bridgeview, died Jan. 19, at Chicago Ridge. Visitation was held at Kosary Funeral Home in Evergreen Park on Jan. 22. A funeral Mass was offered at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Evergreen Park on Jan. 23. Cremation was private.

Ms. Brenner is survived by her son, Marc Anthony; her daughter, Patricia; aunt and uncle, Kay and Jack Cooper; and cousin, Brian.

Ms. Brenner was born in Oak Lawn. She was a waitress.

Ronald J. Friend

Ronald J. Friend, 62, of Hickory Hills, died Jan. 20. Visitation was held at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home in Chicago Heights on Jan. 24. A funeral service was held on Jan. 25. Burial was private. Mr. Friend is survived by his daughter, Lori Anderson; his son, Brian Friend, RN; his sisters, Carol Lang, Beverly Friend and Diane Harmater; and three grandchildren.
