Nicholas Vander Veen, 75, died Aug. 20, at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Visitation was held at Colonial Chapel in Orland Park on Aug. 22. A funeral service is to be held today, Aug. 23 at 10 a.m. at First Christian Reformed Church of Oak Lawn. Burial is to be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
Mr. Vander Veen is survived by his wife, Alice; his daughters, Cynthia Goodrich, Linda Klein, Darlene Gleich, Debra Wiley, Ruth Kutschke and Allison Gawron; his son, Nick Vander Veen Jr.; his sister Rose Hill; his brother, Thomas Vander Venn, Jr.; and 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Vander Veen was born in Evergreen Park. He was a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
