French Spartans

Oak Lawn High School celebrated National French Week earlier this month by labeling all rooms in French and hanging posters throughout the school to highlight important contributions of French men and women, from NBA basketball star Tony Parker to haute couture founder Coco Chanel. French music resonated in the hallways, students played cultural games, and the smell of freshly made crepes wafted from the culinary arts lab. A much-anticipated meal of broccoli chicken divan, unesaladeverte (green salad), French bread and a mini chocolate eclair was offered Nov. 1 in the cafeteria for $3.25.
