Sights of Summer

Brendan Panice, 5 (right), and his brother, Michael, 7, of Oak Lawn, climb a play structure last Friday at the Oak Lawn Village Green playground in the 9400 block of Raymond Avenue. Area residents cooled off from the heat of what has thus far been one of the hottest summers on record in the Chicago area by eating ice cream and swimming, while others have taken advantage of the dry conditions to simply enjoy the sun or play around of golf. Ashley Pond (left), and her brother, Dylan, 6, of Plainfield, and Brittany Trumblay of Oak Lawn beat the heat with ice cream cones at Premo’s, 5540 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn.

Donald Mainczyk of Chicago (left) and John Hnatio of Orland Park get into a golf cart for their fourth game this summer at the Water’s Edge Golf Club, 115th Street and Harlem Avenue in Worth.

Alberta Gonzalez and her children, Jonathan, 6, Axel, 4, and Vanessa, nine months, came from Chicago to enjoy a stroll at Yourell Park, east of Harlem Avenue along the Calumet Sag Channel in Worth.
