awareness health fair
Moraine Valley Community College is hosting its fifth annual Alcohol and Drug Awareness Health Fair today, Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. on campus, 9000 W. College Pkwy in Palos Hills.
Free and open to the public, the event offers information, displays and interactive activities in Building U, room U111. An evening presentation on “Myths, Trends, Scope, and Treatment, Opioid Use in the Community,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in Building M, Moraine Room 3. Refreshments also will be available.
MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island is offering a heart and circulation screening for $40.
The Healthy Heart Exam includes an EKG-monitored exercise test, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and laboratory tests that include total, HDL and LDL cholesterol levels, triglycerides and glucose levels.
All participants will receive a comprehensive 12-page report including an analysis of their cardiac risk factors. Participants are requested to fast for at least 10 hours prior to the exam.
