The new owner of a restaurant and bar in Palos Hills is taking on the former proprietor's attempt to build an outdoor dining area.
Louis Chrysanthou recently purchased the bar formerly known as the Village Pub, 9750 Roberts Road, and renamed it Philly T's. The establishment held a grand opening last Friday and had a "great turnout," according to Palos Hills Mayor Jerry Bennett, who attended the event.
Chrysanthou, whose family for years owned The Rusty Nail Lounge in Oak Lawn, will continue former Village Pub owner Ron Lautereach's attempt to build an outdoor dining area. Lautereach's proposal, which included paving an area behind the building and surrounding it with a six-foot-tall wooden fence, was approved last year by the Palos Hills City Council. Lautereach, however, did not construct the outdoor area before selling the pub to Chrysanthou.
Bennett told Chrysanthou at the City Council's meeting Feb. 21 that the owner needs not submit a new outdoor dining proposal as long as he adheres to the guidelines originally given to Lautereach. Chrysanthou has indicated he will be compliant on meeting the approved guideless, Bennett said.
Chrysanthou hopes to have the outdoor dining area open by summer. Philly T's is a bi-level bar that features karaoke upstairs and a sports downstairs. Food is served until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday.
