New tower christened

The staff at Little Company of Mary’s new Family Birth Center were overwhelmed with emotions to hear the Brahms lullaby announce the birth of the first baby born in the new West Pavilion patient tower. Dreyden Chew was born at 7:33 a.m., Oct. 25, weighing in at 6 pounds, 12 ounces. Chicago resident Phylicia Jackson was excited to hear that she just delivered the first baby in the Birth Center. Dreyden was delivered by Robert Bonaminio, chairman of Little Company of Mary’s Obstetric Department.

The Family Birth Center is located in the new West Pavilion Tower, which is home to the area’s first Women’s Center. The Comprehensive Women’s Center for Life and Health offers specialty services in beautiful surroundings, geared towards a holistic approach in women’s health. Each private room is fully equipped with a birthing immersion tub, private bathroom and shower, 42-inch flatscreen TV, wireless Internet access, a daybed for visitors, natural lighting, rooftop garden views, hand washing stations at the entrance of every room, reducing the risk of infection, and technology that allows the patient to control their room environment.
