Temperatures in the 90s last Thursday did not stop people from flocking to the Evergreen Park farmers market at Yukich Field, 89th Street and Kedzie Avenue. Customers stocked up on fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery goods from bagels to coffee cakes, olive oils, barbecue sauces, candles, bagels, and more.
Canary Payne, of Chicago, bags some green beans at the market. Payne, who grew up in Arkansas, comes to the market every summer. She also bought sweet potatoes, red potatoes and corn.
The market is open every Thursday from now to Oct. 25 at Yukich Field. Customers are asked to park on the far side of the parking lot near 88th Street and Kedzie.
