The Illinois Department of Human Services will hold a free workshop about program planning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the Green Hills Library, 8611 W. 103rd St. in Palos Hills.
The event, co-sponsored by state Reps. Kelly Burke (D-36, Evergreen Park) and Bill Cunningham (D-35, Chicago) is intended to assist representatives of community and faith-based agencies and organizations in their efforts to create an effective program or modify their existing program. The workshop is designed specifically for persons responsible for program planning in their respective organization.
Participants will review the nine-step process for program planning and development, and engage in discussion and skill development exercises to help them assess their capacity to develop a fundable program.
Registrants are encouraged to prepare and bring a brief description of the program/activities they envision or plan to implement. The workshop is not intended for persons wanting to start their own businesses. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to design a basic program, develop an implementation plan with time lines, establish outcomes and identify cost centers.
Deadline for registration is Friday, Sept. 14. On-site registration will not be accepted. To register or for more information call Sue Kerwin at 425-0571 or Joan Knight at (773) 445-8128.
