A 17-year-old Chicago Ridge girl died over the weekend after she was shot in the head while riding in a car with gang members on Chicago’s South Side.

No one has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Taylor Diorio, of the 10800 block of Major Avenue. Diorio was pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, according to Chicago Police news affairs officer Laura Kubiak. The shooting took place at 5:05 a.m. Saturday near 35th Street and Western Avenue.

“She was getting a ride home from a party, and was the passenger in the front seat,” Kubiak said. “Several shots were fired at the vehicle, and one of the shots struck her in the head.”

Diorio did not have any gang affiliations, but some of the other four people who were in the car -- two females and two males, the latter who both have criminal records -- do, Kubiak said. The gunman and one of the people in the car may have gotten into an argument before the shooting, Kubiak added.
